2007 Year-End Review
December 12, 2007
We hope this holiday season fills your homes and hearts with joy and peace.
Our 2007 year has been full of surprising and wonderful experiences.
First, in the midst of training for our first marathon last February, we discovered that we were pregnant with our first child! Mike was able to finish training and ran an amazing race.
Second, due to the pregnancy, I was unable to go on the Spring Break mission trip to Thailand I had signed up for. Nevertheless was overjoyed that my sister, JoAnna, came to visit me instead. Mike was able to lead the mission trip to Thailand and had an incredible experience volunteering his time at an orphanage there.
Third, on our way back to the states in June we had the pleasure of stopping in Maui for a few days—one last romantic get-away before the arrival of children.
Forth, while we were home for the summer we fixed-up our house in Alexandria so that it would be ready for our return this coming June. (Okay, so I was of little help due to the rather large belly.)
Fifth, our son, Jacob Michael Loween arrived 13 days early, on September 22. Holding the miracle of life in our hands has most definitely been a life changing experience. Even though there have been some long days and nights, we now understand a little bit better the vastness of God’s great love for us, his children.
Sixth, a position opened-up for us to be dorm parents to 16 boys and 16 girls here in the TCIS boarding program next year. This job allows us both to be home during the day and to work together to minister to and take care of the students in the afternoons and evenings.
Through all of these experiences we have seen God’s great grace, mercy, faithfulness, and love. Of the above listed experiences few were planned by us. We now can truly profess, “in his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps”(Proverbs 16.9). God has made this an amazing year for us and we are thankful and look forward to whatever steps lie ahead in 2008.
May Christ bless you with his peace and joy this Christmas and all the New Year to come!

Virginia (1980) and I(1981) share the same b-day: December 9th!
Jacob was really the star of the party–as is true at all parties!
