Busy Weekend

Last weekend was a busy one around here, even stressful at times, but in retrospect it will be recalled with fond memories.

Last weekend I (Mike) had the chance to participate in the 30 Hour Famine. This is an event sponsored by World Vision with the goal of raising awareness and funding for the millions of starving people around the world (did you know that there are 856 million people starving right now?).

On Friday at 1pm I left with a group of 38 Middle School students and 5 staff members for Seoul Foreign School (SFS). We joined a group of over 100 students from SFS in singing praise songs, listening to devotionals, engaging in discussions, and playing some great games. We learned a lot together, and in addition raised over $18,000 for this tragically overlooked cause.

This was my third year leading this trip, and each year has been outstanding. I am ever more grateful for all I have, yet convicted of what I am truly called to do: love my neighbor as myself.

Saturday was another big day. Jaci and some other ladies from TCIS decided to host a special Valentines dinner party for the married couples this year. Jaci spent most of the day decorating, while others were preparing food and other aspects of the event. The results were outstanding! We had a very nice dinner (chicken & salmon) over candlelight and roses. We heard stories from other couples (some romantic; some funny), listened to a challenging devotional, played a hilarious game, and even had a dance! It was a terrific time, and I am grateful to all the ladies who took the time to plan this special event.

I know I can’t publish this post with out some news about Jacob. Our little guy has been doing quite well. Probably the biggest development is that he likes to stand a lot lately. He seems to have very strong legs. Oh, we put him in the “Johnny Jump Up” the other night and he loved it! He can’t really jump on his own (so dad pulls him up and lets him down), but he still seems pretty thrilled by it all. Here are some pics and vids to keep you satisfied:
